The electric locomotives of the Ae 3/6ˡ series were purchased in several orders from 1921 to 1929. The locomotive 10700 comes from the MFO and SLM workshops. Due to the long procurement time, technical innovations were also installed. The power of the locomotives increased from 1,450 kW to 1,600 kW. Thanks to the good running characteristics, the maximum speed could also be increased. From 1929 from 90 km/h to 100 km/h and for the more powerful locomotives (from No. 10637) in 1937, after adjustments to the bogie, to 110 km/h.
The locomotive 10700 was based in the Bern depot from 1927 to 1986. It is still housed in the Olten depot as a serviceable historic vehicle and belongs to the SBB Historical Heritage Foundation (SBB Historic).
